Liver Disease Research

CLDF has a strong track record of supporting research, with over £9 million of research funding delivered since 1980. Most of this money has been donated by families, friends, relatives and other supporters.

Research not only enhances our understanding of childhood liver disease and improves available treatments, but it gives children, young people and their families hope for a better future.

Over the last 45 years, CLDF has funded a wide range of research projects. This includes clinical, lab-based, and social science research. All projects have focused on aspects of childhood liver disease.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent cost of living crisis, CLDF has faced unprecedented challenges. The board has taken the difficult decision not to accept any applications for new research grants at this time. We shall continue to support all our existing projects.

CLDF remains committed to research and we will continue to monitor and review the situation.
