Building connections at BSPGHAN

Last week, Michelle Wilkins, our Head of Children and Families Service and Joanne Taylor, our Information and Awareness Officer were delighted to attend the BSPGHAN annual meeting in Newcastle. This is the national conference for the British Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet liver specialists, promote our services and raise awareness. We talked to a wide range of medical professionals, including consultants, nurse specialists, psychologists and dietitians. It was wonderful to be able to make new connections with people who have an understanding of the complex conditions which affect our young people, and show them how we can complement their work.

We had some really interesting conversations, particularly around the transition from paediatric liver care to adult clinical services, something which can cause anxiety in parents and children alike, and the exciting plans we have for new information resources.
